Congratulations to Hattie Rothwell (11) and Isobel Compton (12) who both took top honours at the 2nd round of the Gloucester County Blocks on December 20th. Hattie won the 11 year girls 1500m and Isobel won the 12 year girls whilst Faye Jones came 5th in the 13 year girls race.
In the boys races Eli Gibney (12) was 4th and Craig Skinner (15) took the third prize bronze medal.

Tewkesbury Swimmers performed brilliantly at the first of the 2009/2010 Gloucester Counties Championships the 800m.
11 Year Hattie Rothwell swam a fantastic 800m race to take first place and beating her closest rival by 30 seconds. Hattie's time of 10:34.04 is a new county record. Well done Hattie. Maia Hawkins also took 9th place with a great time of 12:19.50.
Isobel Compton took the silver in the 12 year old girls race in a time of 10:24.02 and Faye Jones 13 came 5th in a time of 10:30.14.
In the boys races Craig Skinner 15 took the silver in a time of 9:22.03, whilst William Gibney was 5th in the 17 year age group in a time of 9:37.99. William's 12 year old brother Eli came 9th in a time of 11:01.84 whilst Alex Tailford 14 also finished 9th in a time of 10:28.89.
Well done to all the swimmers on some fantastic swims.

Swimsuit rule changes from 1st January 2010
The following information regarding changes to the swimsuit rules has been published on the British Swimming website.
Following the ASA Board Meeting, and earlier British Swimming Board Meeting, it has been ruled that from 1st January 2010 all competitions in England, Scotland and Wales will be applying the FINA rules below in relation to Swimsuits for swimming (excluding Masters and Open Water) competitions.
These rule changes are in addition to the rule changes introduced during 2009, detailed here

FINA rules state:-
GR 5 SWIMWEAR
- GR 5.1 The swimwear (swimsuit, cap and goggles) of all competitors shall be in good moral taste and suitable for the individual sports disciplines and not to carry any symbol which may be considered offensive.
- GR 5.2 All swimsuits shall be non transparent.
- GR 5.3 The referee of a competition has the authority to exclude any competitor whose swimsuit or body symbols do not comply with this Rule.
- BL 8.2 In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.
- BL 8.3 From January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials.
